Dear Colleague,

Yesterday after two long years I enjoyed attending a conference in Brussels on EU-funded Transport projects. It was good to see old and new acquaintances and learn about the results obtained by projects recently finished and interim achievements of ongoing projects. A comment from one of the speakers was: there are too many cars in cities and the effort of converting traditionally powered vehicles into electric ones wouldn't solve the issue of congestion in cities. The European Commission launched new calls for projects under the Horizon Europe's Work Programme for 2021-2022 with EU funding of EUR 1.21 billion in total available for Climate, Energy and Mobility topics. Read more

EU energy prices

In the course of 2021, there was a notable increase in EU wholesale energy prices. There were a number of causes, but the prime driver was clearly the rise in the gas price worldwide – a result of the surge in global demand, notably in Asia, as most countries emerged from the Covid-19 pandemic. This led, for example, to lower volumes of liquefied natural gas imports into Europe. Read more

Ricoh launches mini hydropower system for remote locations, usable with solar-plus-storage

The 1kW pico-hydro generation system can be used with factory drainage systems and irrigation canals. According to the manufacturer, it is made with 3D-printed sustainable materials based on recycled plastics and is able to generate electricity even with a small stream of water. Solar and storage may be linked to the system to ensure stable power supply. Read more (photo source: Ricoh)

The 1st Training Course of the "Fight Climate Change" project was a success!

During the week of 14-18 March 2022 in Brussels the "Fight Climate Change" project organised its 1st Training Course. The event was attended by 21 delegates from the UK, Belgium. Bulgaria, Greece and Spain who enjoyed several professional presentations from recognised speakers.

The Project coordinator (and EPN Consulting CEO) Stefano Mainero spoke about the "European Commission Climate Change Actions & Horizon Europe Calls".
